March 3. 2024, I am still driving my 2010 5 speed manual Forester (non-turbo). The most reliable, trouble free car I have ever owned and trust me I have had a large variety of cars and SUVs. If anyone finds a 2010, 11, 12 and 13 in 5 speed manual with low miles, DO NOT pass on it, if maintained well this car will reach 500,000 miles with ease.

Hi! do you still have the forester and if so how is it holding up? I'm looking at getting a 2010 with 57k miles clean title and hoping it will be reliable for my wife and baby! thanks!

Hey mate if u want to tweak ur car’s performance here’s a few tips. Delete ur resonator put in some stainless steel magnaflow mufflers in. Put in a K & N air filter in. Get a idrive throttle controller and when u replace ur spark plugs go for the Densi twin spark plugs . This will bring ur car to life breathe better and unlock the subie burble that’s loved around the world. then if u don’t want to go to coil overs at the least put in a heavy duty adjustable rear swap bar Best bang for ur bucks upgrade. Rear heavy duty links and get a set of springs if u don’t want to spend on coil overs. Put some performance brake pads on and ul be a super happy camper.

A friend of my wife is selling her 2012 Forester 2.5X with 68k miles (clean carfax, asking $13k). Going to test drive it on Friday. Any red flags I should look out for before purchasing?

Regarding the safety lock, my parents had a 2012 subaru forester and my cousin found a way to open it and opened the door while we were driving. You are very correct about it not helping.

Hey Malcolm, great video tour of the. 2009 Forester. You showed me a couple things I missed on mine. I bought my 2009 in 2020 with 69,000 mi on it from my dealer. Great car, paint and interior is perfect- I guess it belonged to some little old lady who only drove it on Sundays or whatever. There are a couple trouble spots on the 2009 though, I was able to fix them with a neighbor’s s help in my driveway. One was a rain leak into the pass floor and the other was a loose console. If you’d like to hear about the causes and fixes, let me know here. The leak especially was almost a cause to sell it, and it was a manufacturing defect and affects 1000’s of 2009-10 models. I’ve seen hundreds of how to videos to trace and “try” to fix. The fix is so simple, but even the dealers had no idea what to do, telling me to clean out sunroof drains, etc… stuff I knew was wrong. Anyway, thanks for a great tour. Let us know how the tow hitch install goes. BTW- the trailer light connection plug is inside the left rear panel (drivers side) in cargo/trunk area. It is taped in that cavity and you just have plug your harness into it, attach the grounding wire to a screw into the metal, button it up and you are done, eazy-Peazy! Ciao!

I have been looking into modifications for this year of Subaru forester. What i do not know is if the liftgate is supposed to lift Automatically with key fob. I am assuming the key fob only unlocks the liftgate.

Can't even use chromecast with the app for a extra tv lame.

How do i connect my Genie to my phone. i want to watch my DVR’d shows on my genie from my phone when im at work. I use to could do this a while ago but ever since i got new phones and stuff like that over the years it doesnt work like it use too. Please help

the reason the fuel door is on the passenger side is for safety, if you ran out of gas on the highway you arent trying to fuel it with a jerry can as traffic is zoomin right next to you

Our 2009 had a keyhole on the driver's side door only. If you used it, the alarm would begin to beep. The alarm could be disabled for only one opening at a time.
